Nutella Peppermint Muddy Buddies! #ChexMagic

Sharing is caring!

Nutella Peppermint Muddy Buddies are an easy to make holiday treat that are filled with bites of chocolate and peppermint. Nutella Peppermint Muddy Buddies are perfect as gifts, for holidays parties, or as a snack while watching a holiday movie.

This morning I was invited to attend a fun event with Chex and I was pretty excited because Chex is a cereal I loved growing up and Chex Mix is a favorite snack. I loved their sweet and salty mix and cried a little when they stopped making it, boo! At the event we got to make Chex Muddy Buddies, which I have never made before and I don’t recall ever eating them. Someone please tell me I’m not alone in this…

#ChexMagic

At the event we made a bunch of delicious Muddy Buddy mixes, but my favorite was a Nutella and Peppermint one we made. Talk about delicious and it reminded me of thin mint girl scout cookies. I loved it so much that I came home and made more and then I decided I had to share the deliciousness with the world. And one of the great things about Chex Mix is that it requires no baking and is perfect for parties, especially with the holidays coming up. It also makes a great gift, put some in a mason jar with a pretty ribbon and cute tag and you’ll be golden.

Chex Nutella and Peppermint Muddy Buddies

Ingredients:

  • 9 cups Rice Chex™, Corn Chex™ or Chocolate Chex™ cereal (or combination) (9 cups is a 12 oz box.)
  • 1 cup candy cane Hershey Kisses
  • 1/2 cup nutella
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (I used 2 cups, but you can start at 1 1/2 and add more if needed)

Directions:

  • In a large bowl, measure cereal and set aside.
  • In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave Hershey Kisses and butter uncovered on High in 20 second intervals; stir. After about the second time add in the Nutella.* Microwave about 20 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
  • Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
  • Sprinkle with chopped up candy canes or peppermint candies

*When we made this at the event we added the nutella at the beginning and it microwaved weird and turned out mixture into a fudge consistency. When we made a second batch we waited to add it in and it came out a lot smoother.

I was not compensated for this post. I was however invited to attend a private event with Chex where I received a goodie bag and ate way too many Muddy Buddies.

These look so good! I have a nephew who is allergic to nuts, so I might try this with that new Hershey Chocolate Spread instead of Nutella.

I like the salty versions best. Trying to keep down my sugar intake.
