Tips and Tricks for making Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

The Air Fryer I use is the COSORI Air Fryer Oven Combo 5.8QT Max Xl Large Cooker which is a 1700w air fryer. I would suggest only cooking 2-3 eggs your first time to make sure that the cooking time works for your air fryer. I don’t want you to ruin a whole carton of eggs.

An ice bath is one of the best ways to get a clean peel with a boiled egg since the air fryer doesn’t use water.

Do you have to use an ice bath? No, you can let them cool at room temp, but I find they’re easier to peel with an ice bath and cool quicker.

The eggs will be very hot when coming out of the air fryer. I like to use tongs to place them in an ice bath to help stop the cooking. You can let them sit in the air fryer basket for a couple of minutes before handling them.

I used a 6-quart air fryer. If you have a smaller one, just use as many eggs as you can that will fit in one layer where your eggs aren’t crowded. Do not change the temperature or time.

Store bought eggs peel much easier and cleaner than fresh farm eggs. I have yet to find something that truly works with fresh farm eggs.

If your air fryer comes with a trivet or wire basket you can place the eggs on that for easier removal, but it’s not necessary.

The egg shells could end up with brown spots on them. This is fine and won’t harm the eggs.

Preheating: Each air fryer is different and requires different cooking steps. Read your manual and see if your air fryer needs to be preheated before you start cooking something. If your air fryer requires preheating make sure to do that step. Not preheating could affect the eggs cooking properly.

Don’t overcrowd your air fryer basket. You want a little bit of room between the eggs. Overcrowding can affect the cooking time.

An ice bath is a way to cool down hot eggs quicker. It helps to stop cooking the eggs, cools them down for easier handling, and an ice bath can make them easier to peel. To make an ice bath add cold water and ice to a bowl. The bowl needs to be big enough to hold all your eggs with space leftover so your water doesn’t overflow when the eggs are added.
