How SAFY is Supporting Colorado Children & Families

Sharing is caring!

This post is brought to you by SAFY but as always opinions are my own.

May is National Foster Care Month and I’ve teamed up with SAFY Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth to tell you about the importance of foster care and how you can support Colorado families.

All About SAFY

SAFY is Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth which is a non-profit that can be found in a few states, like Colorado. Their goal is to build strong families through behavioral services, family preservation and reunification, adoption, and foster care.

SAFY believes that all children deserve the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their full potential. That is a statement I 100% agree with and I love the amazing work they’re doing in Colorado.

Importance of Foster Care

Foster Care is one of the big things that SAFY does and giving children a safe and loving home is essential for them to reach their full potential in life. SAFY helps children find foster homes that are stable environments for children so they can be their best selves.

Many children are removed from their homes due to neglect. When children are removed from their homes they are likely to have trauma, but also feelings of hopelessness, grief, anxiety, loneliness, anger, frustration, lack of confidence, and more that can lead to mental and physical health challenges.

SAFY and their clinical staff ensure that their foster family network is equipped with tools like trauma healing and behavioral coping skills that support each youth’s mental, physical, and emotional safety and well-being. Their goal is to have their foster families a mentoring bridge between youth and their biological or adoptive families. Making sure that each child has a secure future.

How You Can Help

There are a few ways you can help SAFY and foster children and families in Colorado. Here are some ways:

Become a Foster Parent and open your home to a child who needs you. You can take a 30-second assessment to see if Foster Care is a fit for you. If you’re interested in fostering you can learn more about what fostering entails, the requirements (there are a few), and sign up via their website SAFY.ORG.

Donate: Become a Builder of Hope by donating to SAFY so foster kids can have holiday gifts, food, and essentials like clothes, hygiene products, and bedding. Donations also go towards recruitment and retention activities. Donate Here!

Spread the word: If you can’t become a foster parent or donate the easiest way to help SAFY out is by spreading the word in your local community. Share them with your friends and family. Share this blog post or their website and highlight the amazing work they’re doing. Word of mouth is huge when it comes to non-profit support.

You can learn more about SAFY and all the work they’re doing, how they’re helping families, and the services they offer via their website SAFY.ORG.
