Fruit Flavored Crunch Topping – Cherry, Raspberry, Lemon, and More!

Sharing is caring!

Crunch toppings are a great addition to cakes, cupcakes, fruit crumbles, ice cream, muffins, and more. Making a flavored crunch topping is so easy to do and all you need is 3 simple ingredients. You can make flavored crunch toppings in raspberry, cherry, lemon, orange, and whatever other flavor you need.

These flavored crunch topping recipes do not use pudding mix or flour, but instead golden Oreos or Nilla Wafers. It’s quick, easy, and simple. The 3 ingredient crunch topping is ready in about 15 minutes.

Fruit Flavored Crunch Topping

Strawberry crunch topping is my favorite crunch topping, but there are so many more flavors to enjoy when it comes to crunch topping.

Crunch topping combines jello mix, crushed cookies, and melted butter. You mix them all together, bake for about 7 minutes, and then once it has cooled you crumble it up. Simple and easy!

The 2 key ingredients for crunch topping are crushed cookies and melted butter. I like to use golden Oreos, but Nilla wafers also work wonderfully. Whichever cookie you choose the steps are all the same. Then add your jello mix in whatever flavor you like. My favorites are Raspberry, Lemon, and Cherry.

Crunch Topping Flavors

Cherry Crunch Topping – Use Cherry Jello Mix

Lemon Crunch Topping – Use Lemon Jello Mix

Raspberry Crunch Topping – Use Raspberry Jello Mix

Orange Crunch Topping – Use Orange Jello Mix

Strawberry Crunch Topping – Use Strawberry Jello Mix

Pineapple Crunch Topping – Use Pineapple Jello Mix

Blueberry Crunch Topping – Use Blueberry Jello Mix, but I would prefer dried blueberries on this one.

Remember, we are using the Jello mix, not the pudding mix.

Can I substitute the Jello Mix? Yes, you can substitute the jello mix with dried fruit. Use 1 cup of dried fruit. Run the fruit through the food processor to turn it into a powder. If you feel like the crumble needs more fruit flavor add more dried fruit.

How to Store Crunch Topping

The cake crunch topping can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for a week.

How to Make Crunch Topping

Crunch your cookies in a food processor or in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin.

I prefer to do the Ziploc bag with a rolling pin. You place the cooking in the bag and seal it. Then pound the cookies with the rolling pin. You could also use the flat side of a meat mallet. Flip the bag over and crush some more. Repeat until cookies are crushed into a crumble.

In a bowl combine the cookies and jello mix. Mix well.

Add the melted butter and stir until everything is combined well.

On a parchment-lined baking sheet spread the crumble into an even layer.

Bake for 7-8 minutes. The crumble will melt into one layer.

Let the crumble cool. You can speed this process up by placing it in the fridge.

Once the crumble has cooled place it back into the food processor or Ziploc bag and crush again.
