Simple Ways to Decorate for Christmas!

Sharing is caring!

I love love love the holidays and would start decorating for Christmas after Halloween, but my husband always makes me wait until after Thanksgiving. There is something that is just so cozy, comforting, and festive about Christmas decorations to me and they make me happy, but with kids it can be hard to decorate for Christmas. The kids are always getting into things and our tree is a perfect example. Our toddler thinks ornaments are toys or balls and has broken several this year, so we had to take almost all the ornaments off the tree except for a few around the top which are out of arms reach. The struggle is real with the holiday decorating because anytime I put decorations out, the kids come along and try to play with them. That’s why this year I am doing simple and easy decorations that will still make our home feel festive.

Simple ways to decorate for Christmas:

  1. Throw Pillows – I love a couch covered in throw pillows and there are so many festive ones out there. Whether you add 2 or 10 they’re a great way to decorate a couch, chair, bed, or room and they’re kid friendly.
  2. Baskets – Baskets are a great way to stay organized and for storage. I bring out the holiday ones and put them around the house. Some have cinnamon pine cones (which smell heavenly), some have magazines, and I put one in the bathroom to store our Scott® 1100 toilet paper which I picked up from Walmart while picking up other holiday decor. Scott® 1100 paper has 100 FREE sheets per roll for even more long-lasting value and performance.
  3. Throw Blankets – We always have throw blankets on the couch and during this time of year I switch them out for more festive ones like cable knit throws in festive colors like red and white.
  4. Festive Essentials – There are certain essentials like Kleenex and hand soap that I buy to match the season. Kleenex Perfect Fit canisters have some holiday designs so they’re all over the house. Kleenex® Perfect Fit* Facial Tissue is the perfect mix of substance and style. The new slim canister is ideal for any small or on-the-go space, and available in a variety of patterns that fit seamlessly into any room and match the season.
  5. Linens – I switch out the hand towels and kitchen and bath mats with holiday related ones for a easy way to decorate the bathroom and kitchen.
  6. Christmas Cards – If you’re getting Christmas cards in the mail, hang them up around the house. It’s a cute way to remind you of loved ones and a fun way to show off your holiday cards.
  7. Lights – We hang a few lights in the windows and around the fireplace. Lights bring Christmas decorations together and are a must have in my book!

Kimberly Clark Essentials

With family coming into town I also like to make sure I stock up on holiday essentials like Viva® Big Roll Paper Towels, Scott® 1100 Bathroom Tissue, Cottonelle® Toilet Paper Double Rolls, and Kleenex® Perfect Fit Holiday Canisters, which I can stock up on at Walmart. With so much shopping to do this time of year I really like to try and save as much money as I can and one of the ways I can do that is by using the Ibotta app. With the Ibotta app you can get cash back on purchases like:

  • $1 off Cottonelle 12-ct or larger
  • $1 off Scott 12-ct or larger
  • $1 off Viva 6-ct or larger
  • Buy two products and get an extra dollar back

And with the money I save I can use it towards more kid friendly decorations or gifts!

What are some kid friendly ways you decorate for the holidays?
