Holiday Mocktails

Growing up, any time we went out for Mexican food my parents would let me order a Shirley Temple. We didn’t go too often, but it was something I always looked forward to and now it’s one of those drinks that brings back a nostalgic feeling of happiness for me. With the holidays coming up there is just something about this time of year when I love having a Shirley Temple. Maybe it’s the happiness the holidays bring?

These are the little moments and memories I hope to pass onto my family as well. Flashbacks and moments of happiness triggered by a sound, favorite drink, or any moment of happiness.

How to Sugar a glass

Since the holidays are just around the corner and I am looking forward to my favorite drink, a Shirley Temple, I wanted to bring it back to life with a holiday kick. Cranberries just scream the holidays to me and I am turning my Shirley Temple into festive holiday drink with Sprite®, cranberry juice, and sugared cranberries. Instead of getting to the bottom of your glass and finding a cherry (which is the best part) I am replacing the cherry with a cranberry, which is just as yummy.

How to reduce soda into a syrup

Remember how I told you that Sam’s Club is making all of my holiday shopping needs easy and effortless? I made sure to stock up on a lot of holiday essentials like Coca-Cola®, Sprite®, Gold Peak® Sweet Tea, Dasani®, and Diet Coke® for our holiday festivities. Those Sprite® Mini Cans that I picked up will be perfect for the Cranberry Shirley Temples I am whipping up this year.

How to Sugar Cranberries

This drink is pretty easy and effortless. The hardest part (which is still very easy) will be sugaring your cranberries. To do this, pour a can of Sprite® into a pan and boil on medium heat for about 20-25 mins or until the Sprite® has reduced down 3/4ths of the way. Once it’s reduced down, pour it into a bowl and chill for about 30 mins. Once cooled, you’ll coat your cranberries in the Sprite® reduction and chill them for about an hour. Once chilled, you’ll coat them in sugar and run a fancy toothpick through them.

Get your favorite glasses. I love my stemless wine glasses because they feel fancy. Rub a little bit of Sprite® around the rim of your glass and then sprinkle on some colored sprinkles. This is the fun part, pick colors that match the holiday you’re celebrating.

Next you’ll add ice to your glasses. The glasses I used were almost 14 oz so I used a whole mini can of Sprite® (7.5 oz) and then topped off my glass with cranberry juice. Add your cranberry sticks and pop in a festive straw and you’re all set to go!

I don't drink alcohol, & I love this mocktail idea! Plus, Shirley Temple drinks make me nostalgic for childhood, lol. :) I think we have all the ingredients to give this recipe a try on Christmas Day tomorrow!

This would be something I could make on New Years Eve so my children can celebrate when we are drinking champagne.
