I’ve been going down to Monterey for as long as I can remember. Every few years we would head down for a trip and the drive down from the San Francisco Bay Area is so gorgeous, relaxing, and full of so much beauty. There’s also a lot to do from visiting beaches, getting fresh food and produce from Mom & Pop stands, and visiting little old towns. The drive down and back could be it’s own trip. We spent many summers down in Santa Cruz, California and since Monterey is not too much further down the coast we would always make a stop and visit Monterey, California.
First up, Lunch! It’s not a trip without a stop at In-N-Out for lunch.
Our next stop was the Aquarium and it’s always been a favorite of mine. There is so much to do, learn, and explore. We spent half the day there learning about all the different sea life and how to help protect them.
If you’ve never been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium before it’s a must do on my list. So many different sea creature to learn about, hands on exhibits for the kids, play areas, an outdoor deck with gorgeous views, and so many educational opportunities.
Next. We were hungry and stopped for a snack across the street at the Tollhouse Cookie shop!
Finally we ended the trip with a drive down 17 mile drive and stopped at one of the beaches to play in the sand and get our feet wet. I love 17 mile drive because it’s gorgeous. Beautiful homes, lush green scenery, white sand beaches, and ocean views for miles.
We had the perfect day and now that our daughter is getting older these Mommy and Daughter trips are going to have to be a yearly tradition!
