#FactsUpFront Helps You Make More Informed Choices When Grocery Shopping!

Sharing is caring!

One of the things I’m working on for my family this year is making better food choices. I’m awful about food planning and often times don’t know what I’m going to buy at the store until I walk the aisles. With 2 kids in tow it’s sometimes difficult to shop and I don’t have time to read all the labels. Thankfully the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the Food Marketing Institute understand this and started the Facts Up Front initiative. Facts Up Front is the most significant reform on food and beverage labeling in more than 20 years.

So I’m sure you’re wondering what the Facts Up Front initiative is, right? Facts Up Front is a simple and easy-to-use labeling system that displays key nutrition information on the front of food and beverage packages. It makes it easier for you to see the nutrition information on a product so you can make a more informed decision when buying food for your family. I’ve seen this on many on the items and in the coming months even more food items will be taking part in putting the Facts Up Front. I think this is such a great way to help people make smarter decisions when buying food and I know it’s helped me out many times.

With the Facts Up Front you don’t have to look all over the package for the nutrition facts. Instead the calories, sugars, fats, and other things are listed on the front of the package. Easy to read and easy to understand. Not only do they make label reading easier, but their website is packed full of nutritional information, recipes, and lots of other information to help you make informed decisions.

Retailers including Kroger, Hy-Vee and Wegmans are also implementing Facts Up Front on their store brands.

The number of products carrying the Facts Up Front label in the marketplace continues to grow as companies work through their different production and distribution schedules. So far, more than 50 manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers are voluntarily implementing Facts Up Front on their branded and private label products.
