Denver Summer Diaries – Summer Camp, Super Heroes, and Cracker Jacks!

Denver Summer Diaries – Summer Camp, Super Heroes, and Cracker Jacks!

Sharing is caring!

We’re almost halfway through summer and the kids are having such a blast. This week was our oldest daughters favorite because Spider Monkey in Aurora invited her to attend their summer camp. We hadn’t been to Spider Monkey before, but it was on our list of places to check out this summer. Spider Monkey summer camp is for ages 5 to 12 and they do a variety of fun activities like ninja training, crafts, hide and go seek, team building exercises, and much more. Our daughter had a blast at Spider Monkey’s summer camp and is begging to go back for their next round the week of July 9th.

Spider Monkey Summer camp is for 1 week and runs daily from Mon-Thurs. You drop the kids off at 9am and pick them up at 1pm. They need to bring a sack lunch for Mon-Wed and on the final day they have a pizza party. On the first day of camp they’re given special Spider Monkey socks, which need to be worn while playing in the park, and a t-shirt they get to decorate. Each day they wear their special t-shirt and socks for camp.

Each day she came home gushing about how much fun she had from craft projects, like decorating a foam block, to learning how to master the obstacle course, playing hide n’ go seek, dodge ball, and her favorite – the zip line. You can sign your own little ones up for summer camp at Spider Monkey via their website.

Our son was devastated that he couldn’t go to Spider Monkey summer camp too. Poor kid is about 6 months shy of being 5 so on one of the mornings after dropping off our daughter I took him and our youngest daughter to play in the extreme sports park. He also had a blast and it was adorable watching them jump on the trampolines, jump off the towers, climb the rock wall, and use the zip line. Our son also loved the zip line and I had to drag him off of it. Bonus: After our jump they sent an email inviting us back for a FREE jump.

On Wednesday Alamo Drafthouse invited us in to watch The Incredibles 2. The kids were begging to watch it so we headed over to the littleton location for lunch and a movie. This was my first time visiting an Alamo Drafthouse location and I am in love. They offer in theater drinks and dining. The staff was friendly, food was delicious, and it was great being able to order a real lunch while watch the movie. The kids picked up their Summer Family Fun cards where they can earn rewards for watching movies this summer. They can earn free milkshakes (which were delicious), free pizza, and even free movie tickets. All summer long they have special kids movies playing like Trolls, Lego Batman, Despicable Me, and so much more. We’ll definitely be heading back a few more times over the summer for cheap movies for their summer camp and family time.

After we watched Incredibles 2 we headed over to Coors Field for the Rockies game. Toyota was kind enough to invite us to celebrate Father’s Day with them in the AT&T Suite. It’s been several years since we’ve been to a baseball game and the younger 2 kids have never been before, so it was the perfect summer outing. The evening was perfect with a cool breeze, we got to hang out with some other fun bloggers, eat hot dogs, and watch the game. There were several home runs made and the Rockies ended the night with a win. If you haven’t been to a baseball game before, GO! It’s so much fun.

On Saturday we woke up and decided donuts needed to happen. We tried out Fractured Prune, which is new to us. They’re located in Glenwood villiage and it’s such a fun concept. Donuts are made fresh to order and you can top them with whatever glaze and toppings you want. The kids had so much fun being able to customize their own donuts and they were do good. HOT donuts with the exact toppings you want is the way to go!

The rest of the days last week were chill days at home. Playing with slime, riding bikes, watching movies, and the kids doing some summer school work. I picked up supplies to start making summer journals of all our activities. I think it will be fun for the kids to have when they’re older. I’ll be sharing more of that in another post!
