Our family loves to travel, whether it’s by plane or car and our most recent trip was a road trip from Colorado to San Francisco, California. We came out for a much needed and long overdue trip to visit family and decided to turn it into a road trip. I wasn’t sure how our trip would go when I decided to spend 20+ hours in a car with a 4 year old and 8 month old, but I knew it was something worth trying.

Whenever I travel I always make sure to have an arsenal of items for the kids to keep them happy. Since we were doing a road trip this time vs. flying I was able to bring a little more items to help keep the kids entertained. Before our trip I headed to Walmart to pick up some items that I was missing like snacks, drinks, Wet-Naps, and a few items to keep the kids entertained. Wet-Naps are a must have in ANY bag that I carry because kids are messy.

Wet-Naps are perfect for on the go and the soft wipe cleans the kids up in a jiffy and also moisturizes with added aloe. I love the canister for in the car and I always have a few of the individually wrapped wipes in my diaper bag and purse. With kids you never know when a mess it going to happen and it’s always good to be prepared with a strong wipe that can tackle a kid mess. I was able to find the Wet-Naps in the baby isle near the shampoo and feminine care items and they can also be found in the napkin isle and since I love coupons, I made sure to print out my $0.55/off coupon!

Road Trip Bag

Our trip bags are pretty simple and always filled with my kids favorite items. Their favorite snacks and drinks, fully charged iPad for movies, a favorite toy or 2, coloring stuff, and some books. I always tell other moms that you know your kids best and you know what will keep them happy and entertained, bring those items. For my kids the main things are an iPad to watch movies,a coloring book and crayons, and their favorite snacks. Since my kids are young those items get us by, but if you have kids that are a little older travel games are great to bring along and as long as your child can talk iSpy is always a fun road trip game when the kids start to get restless.

Road Trip Bag Stuff

Traveling with kids can be stressful, but I have found that our travel bag is our most prized possession. As long as I have the items that I know will keep my kids happy, our trip goes a lot smoother and the kids stay happy for the most part. I also make sure to let the kids get out and stretch and use the bathroom every time we stopped for gas. Having their favorite items and letting them get our to walk around every couple hours really helped in keeping me sane and them happy!

When we traveled with the kids when they were younger, we always pack snacks for them.

When I was growing up and going on road trips with my family I remember the license plate bingo and playing with an etch-a-sketch.

The wet wipes are a must for my car. I like fun snacks that I don't usually get.
